- Take the general knowledge test at the DMV to obtain your permit. The 25 questions in the test are pulled from the Motorcycle Operator Manual. Once you pass the test, you will be issued a motorcycle instruction permit.
- Take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic Rider Course. This fun 3-day class includes class time and a 2-day weekend rider’s lab. In this course, a motorcycle will be provided. Once you complete the course, you will be issued a motorcycle skills test certification. This certification serves as a waiver to the DMV’s motorcycle road skills exam.
- Present your certificate of completion to the DMV and roll out with your motorcycle license.
